Launched in 2001 as science.01, the national sciencemonth is held annually in September to promote greater awareness and public understanding of the role of science, technology and biomedicine in Singapore and to accord greater recognition to scientists and engineers. Science 2001 replaces the old TechMonth series, which has been around since 1980's, and has evolved over time from TechMonth to Science & TechMonth and finally in 2001, it has been re-branded to science.01. The new name takes on a broader interpretation of "science" to cover scientific research and discovery, as well as the applications of scientific knowledge, engineering and technological innovation.
Sciencemonth has grown since its inception and in August - September 2008, more than 120 programmes are organised by 30 partner organisations.
Brought to you by the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*Star) and the Science Centre Singapore, science.08, also known as sciencemonth, is an annual national event to celebrate the dynamism of science, technology and biomedicine. Experience fascinating innovations and be awed by inspiring wonders, with more than 120 fun-filled, exciting activities lined up for everyone. Celebrating the marvels that Science brings to our future. So get ready for an amazing time, as your journey of discovery comes alive. |
